Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950.

The Republic Day Parade is a well-known event; not only in India but in the entire commonwealth.

India showcases its military might, new Army, Navy and Air Force equipment, etc. and is attended by a Chief Guest each year.

The Chief Guest this year was the President of South Africa.
