ROBIN's 2D Mobile system consists of a horizontal S-band radar mounted on a van. The radar identifies the presence and number of birds in time – including their location, direction, speed and route – up to 20 kilometres away, all around, day and night.
This configuration is ideal as a complement to human observation in temporary field research – when assessing a proposed site for a new wind farm or the best location for a permanent radar, for example. The van itself is equipped with a power generator and provides luxury seats for two users at the control desk with windows on either side. In addition, the whole system can be manned remotely (provided access facilities are in place).
The van is available for rent, enabling consultancy firms to expand their offering towards their clients. ROBIN can also supply the key system components to clients to enable you to build your own 2D Mobile configuration. The 2D configuration may also be delivered on a field mount or pillar.
